Past Award Recipients

Jessica Rosen, Curatorial Assistant at The Heckscher Museum of Art, received the Long Island Museum Association Professional Development Award to attend the College Art Association (CAA) Annual Conference 2026 in Chicago. This conference allowed her to attend a wide range of sessions focused on her areas of expertise, queer and feminist art history. Rosen attended panels on topics such as examining race in the archive, building queer communities in the art world, and implementing feminist curatorial strategies, gaining insights directly applicable to Long Island institutions. As a newly appointed member of CAA's Students and Emerging Professionals Committee, she participated in business meetings and networking events, contributing to the development of upcoming initiatives while building connections with peers and scholars. Through connections made at the conference, Rosen was appointed as a Regional Coordinator for The Feminist Art Project, an organization she has long been interested in supporting. The experience has significantly shaped her professional development, deepening her commitment to inclusive, accessible, and community-engaged museum practices. She looks forward to applying these insights to her work and sharing them with the broader LIMA community.
